Almost Strictly Pencil

Pencil on paper has long been an enduring medium for artists to reveal their thoughts and ideas with an immediacy on paper. Sometimes they just place a few very quick well sighted pencil traces to describe an idea or motif quickly, in  other times within drawing studio praxis they create  sophisticated drawn studies as evidenced the museums around the world.

A short return to Perth

Pinaroo Kangeroos

Recently, I returned to Perth for a brief stay to see relatives and visit parental graves after covid.

During  that very brief time, I  had the good fortune to see the exhibitions of two the Wild Swan Art Group being Kevin Robertson (with a wonderful book on his artworks over several decades on sale at the counter) and John Cullinane.

Plus, a short conversation with the two other good artists being Sally Douglas and Chelle Bourne before heading back to Japan.

Also, in that short stay  I wish had time to see Michael Doherty received City of Rockingham Art Prize 2023 Local Resident Award Winner Michael Doherty, ‘Lake Walyungup, Rockingham’.

Kevin Robertson  at the Art Collective in Perth

Unfortunately, I didn’t have that much time due to travel delays, cancellations than I would have liked but what is good is the group continues to excel within the studio praxis.
